Koskisen Corporation press release, 20 February 2023, at 04:30 p.m. EET
Wood product company Koskisen is preparing for the Finnish Transport Workers’ Union AKT’s industrial action measures with possible production adjustments. The effects of the ongoing industrial action measures can be seen in the availability of raw materials used in production, such as glues and coatings, and in rapidly filling warehouses when the export of wood products from the ports is interrupted. About 60 percent of Koskisen's sawn timber and board production is exported.
Koskisen has implemented the change negotiations in order to be prepared for the effects of the industrial action measures. The negotiations concerned personnel of Panel Industry and Sawn Timber Industry in Finland, a total of approximately 700 people. Change negotiations concerned layoffs up to 90 days in connection with the possible temporary reduction of work in order to adjust production. As a result of the negotiations, the company can flexibly adjust its production with layoffs if needed.
The Koskisen Group employs a total of approximately 900 employees.
