Origin of the Wood
EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and Origin of the Wood
Chain of custody management is an integral part of Koskisen’s supply chain. All wood raw material is sourced from legal origins, and its origin is verified. No wood is procured from protected areas, nor from controversial or illegal sources.
Wood traceability is based on internationally recognized PEFC and FSC® Chain of Custody certifications. These ensure that the journey of wood from forest to finished product meets the requirements of the certification systems.
Koskisen complies with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) as national definitions are completed and at the latest by its entry into force on 30 December 2025. The regulation requires that products placed on the EU market do not cause deforestation or degradation of forest conditions. To meet this, a due diligence procedure is applied, including verification of wood origin, risk assessment, and necessary risk mitigation measures before placing products on the market. A description of the process will be published before the regulation enters into force.
Wood is not sourced from:
- illegal logging
- violations of indigenous peoples’ or other human rights
- destruction of significant conservation values
- conversion of natural forests into plantations
- use of genetically modified trees
Chain of custody management is embedded in the company’s processes. Systematic monitoring and documentation ensure wood traceability and supply chain transparency, while training and internal guidelines support compliance throughout the organization and the supply chain.
