Value Chain

Koskisen is a Finnish wood products company whose value chain extends from wood procurement to finished products and end use. Operations are based on wood procurement that takes biodiversity into account, with the raw material processed into sawn timber, panel products, and high value-added solutions for sectors such as construction, logistics, automotive, and furniture. Most of the wood is procured from private forest owners in Finland, and all procurement follows the requirements of PEFC and FSC® certification.

At the core of operations is “wood wise” – respecting forests, people, and society as partners. The value chain is built on material-efficient and interconnected processes covering harvesting, production, and deliveries. This integrated model enables growth while maintaining flexibility and efficiency.

As the use of wood affects the climate and biodiversity, Koskisen has set clear targets related to these topics. These include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving resource efficiency, and promoting biodiversity at all stages of wood procurement and production. Development is also reflected in everyday work through safety, wellbeing, and competence building.

Customers are provided with value by helping them mitigate climate change and adapt to the future through products and services. Locally, Koskisen supports selected non-profit organizations, especially those promoting physical activities for children and young people, as well as education in the wood products and forest sectors.

Koskisen’s production facilities are located in Järvelä, Hirvensalmi, and Iisvesi in Finland, and in Skwierzyna and Toporów in Poland. Products are exported to around 70 countries, with customers in sectors such as construction, logistics, automotive, furniture, and packaging.
