Biodiversity
Koskisen recognizes the impacts of its operations on biodiversity, particularly through wood procurement and forest management. Safeguarding biodiversity is a central part of the company’s work, and both negative and positive impacts are managed systematically.
Forest management and harvesting activities can affect species’ habitats and ecosystem conditions, but when carried out carefully, they can support species preservation, improve forest health, and secure the availability of raw material in the future.
Biodiversity is promoted, for example, by favouring a diverse range of tree species, maintaining forest structure, and protecting water bodies. Performance is monitored through inspections and reporting, and the expertise of employees and forest owners is developed through training. The share of certified wood is monitored continuously. Koskisen has defined its biodiversity objectives in its responsibility program and reports on their implementation as part of the annual report as part of the financial statement, which also describes the key measures taken.
