Koskisen panels are part of Polar House’s quality promise

Long-term cooperation is not built overnight, but once a solution that works has been found, there is no need to change a good partner. This is also demonstrated by the cooperation between Polar House and Koskisen, which has continued uninterrupted since 2005.

Based in Keminmaa, Lapland region, Polar House is known for its high-quality thermal log homes that combine the appearance of a traditional log house with the energy efficiency of modern construction. From the outside, the company’s houses look like log homes, but their technical structure differs from that of a traditional single-frame log house.

“In practice, it is a timber-frame thermal log house. The customer gets the authentic appearance and atmosphere of a log home, but the structure is more energy efficient than in a traditional solution,” summarizes Ville Köngäs, Partner responsible for Sales and Marketing at Polar House.

As Polar House uses visible wood surfaces for both exterior and interior finishes, the quality of the materials plays a crucial role in the final result.

Quality Remains Visible for Years

Throughout the partnership, Koskisen products have been used in both exterior and interior cladding applications. The most important products have been the planed spruce panels 28×218 UTV and 28×215 UTW, which have been a recognizable part of Polar House homes for years.

According to Köngäs, the longevity of the partnership has a simple explanation: the products have delivered as expected.

“We have had no reason to change suppliers. The products have received such positive feedback from our customers that we have been able to trust their quality year after year.”

In construction, even small details matter. One of the most important factors is the correct moisture content achieved by Koskisen, which affects the dimensional stability, durability and long-term performance of the material.

“The material must stand the test of time. That is something you can still see in the finished result years later,” Köngäs continues.

In Premium Construction, Materials Are Never Compromised

Polar House does not aim to compete on the lowest price in the market. The company’s operating philosophy is based on high quality, which is reflected in both material selections and every stage of the construction process.

This approach is also evident in the way house elements are finished. Before the panels are attached to the elements, they are treated by hand, including the tongue-and-groove joints.

“The careful work done with a paintbrush reflects our brand spirit well. We think of it as if we were building the house for ourselves,” says Köngäs.

Meticulous finishing supports Polar House’s goal of building homes that will still look good decades from now.

Customers Value Natural Materials, Quality and Finnish Origin

Polar House customers are looking for homes that combine the natural qualities of wood, high-quality materials and a long service life. At the same time, Finnish origin has become an increasingly important part of the purchasing decision. The company has been awarded the Key Flag Symbol, and Finnish-made materials are used whenever possible.

“Finnish origin is extremely important to us. We strive to use Finnish products and partners everywhere it is possible,” says Köngäs.

The only exception is sourced from Norway; wood fiber insulation is used as an alternative to mineral wool. Otherwise, domestic solutions are preferred in material selections.

Customer appreciation is also reflected in Polar House’s high NPS score, which was 88 in the latest measurement.

“The NPS shows that our customers are satisfied with what they receive.”

Reliability of Supply Is Tested During Challenging Times

More than two decades have included many different market situations. The construction industry has experienced major economic cycles, material availability challenges, the impacts of the pandemic and rising costs.

According to Köngäs, the long partnership reflects not only product quality but also reliability of supply. When the same partner has been involved continuously since 2005 without a single gap year, it demonstrates strong mutual trust.

“In twenty-one years, there have certainly been many different phases. Reliability of supply has been tested many times, and the cooperation has worked throughout,” Köngäs says appreciatively.

In the construction industry, discussions often revolve around price, but for Polar House, quality, reliability and customer satisfaction have become the most important priorities.

“When the products perform, customers are satisfied and deliveries run smoothly, there has been no reason to change suppliers. That is perhaps the best possible proof of a successful partnership,” Köngäs concludes.
