Koskisen’s Zero furniture board is the winner of the new product competition at the Puu 2023 fair

Koskisen Corporation press release, 7.9.2023, at 9.00 a.m. EEST

The wood products company Koskisen's Zero furniture board has won the new product competition at the Puu 2023 fair, which sought the product or service that best promotes environmental and resource efficiency in the wood products sector.

Zero is a completely new kind of furniture board in which the fossil binder has been replaced with a renewable wood-based binder, lignin. The wood raw material for the Zero board comes from side streams of Koskisen's manufacturing processes.

"Zero is the world's first fully wood-based furniture board. The carbon dioxide emissions of wood-based materials are clearly lower compared to non-renewable materials. They also bind carbon for decades to come," says Product Manager Eemi Valjakka.

According to Valjakka, Koskisen's Zero product family responds to the increased demand for bio-based solutions both in Finland and in export markets. The Zero furniture board is used in various end uses, such as furniture, cabinetry, laminate floors and various special furniture applications.

Zero is a versatile board that is easy to work with. Its strength level in different directions is constant and it insulates sound well. Also, Zero is environmentally friendly throughout its life cycle.
