According to Timo Linna, conventional melamine coatings have always had some antibacterial properties, but this has not been observed before. Thus, standards of good hygiene are already met with a normal melamine coating. Thanks to the silver-containing coating of the new KoskiMel Antibacterial furniture board, the antibacterial properties are ever greater.
The effectiveness of the antimicrobial coating is achieved by the small amount of silver contained in the surface treatment. With silver, the elimination of bacteria on the surface of furniture is faster than without silver. The coating of the KoskiMel furniture board eliminates up to 99.9% of all microbes, and the board meets the requirements of the ISO 22196 standard; 0.01% of bacteria remain on the surface after 24 hours. KoskiMel also guarantees that bacteria do not begin to multiply on the surface.
